Ceiling Fan

This song was written for a “skirmish” on FAWM.

A skirmish is a challenge: A song title, or some other prompt is announced, and the songwriters have 60 minutes to write (and usually record) the song.  I’ve done a lot of these, and some very good songs have come out of them.  Why am I sharing this one?

The guitar that I am playing is spectacular.  My wife gave it to me for my birthday, and it is so beautiful that I was genuinely afraid to play it for a while.  I am not worthy of such a beautiful instrument.

It’s a Taylor 210e-SB DLX.  I’ll put it up against a Martin in the same price range any day.

By the way – I had never been interested in Elixir strings before owning this guitar.  It came with Elixir Phosphor Bronze Mediums, and I’m sold.  They feel really good under my fingers, and at least on this guitar, they make the sound of joy and love and happiness.

The microphone I used in the recording is also terrific.  My wife’s parents (aka my in-laws) gave me the microphone for Christmas.  This was the first time I used it, and I really like the sound it gave me.  It’s an AKG-P170

So, it’s a rough recording.  There are mistakes.  But I was so happy with the sound of the instrument through that microphone that I just wanted to share.  I hope you like it!

Choose Love

Written and recorded in 60 minutes as part of a FAWM skirmish.  Little spit and elbow grease, this song wouldn’t be half bad.

Crime of Passion

You make me feel like a man
Sitting in a prison
Doing time for a crime
A crime of passion

Throw Me A Bone

Desert

I had no idea what I was doing when I put this together.  I recorded that guitar part for 5 straight minutes.  Then I started putting other stuff on top of it.  This is what I ended up with, and I really like it.
