I started this in January of 2012, and promptly forgot about it. I stumble upon it a few years later, did more work on it. It’s been slowly evolving every since. The vocals on this version (April 2017) are done by Ken Fortner.

Lyrics:
Keep watch with me while I grieve, while I grieve, while I grieve
Peter, sons of Zebedee, Zebedee, sons of ZebedeeSleep, while you sleep
The hour is at hand
Keep watch with me
While I grieveFather, take this cup from me
Take this cup, take this cup from meSleep, while you sleep
The hour is at hand
Keep watch with me
While I grieve
I like.
(I also began this post and then forgot about it, but as you can see my mind is a little bit more affected by forgetfulness, as my post only totals 2 words).
I sat here on the couch (with the wind blowing outside making the wind chill a negative half degree Fahrenheit) picturing a field with a gentle breeze and rippling grass, a cup of hot lemon tea in my hand.
Oh, you think you are forgetful…
I wrote the song, then forgot about it. Then I found the song, and started writing a post, and forgot about it. Then I found the post, and published it, forgetting to add the lyrics to give context of what it’s meant to be. It was written for Lent:
Keep watch with me while I grieve, while I grieve, while I grieve
Peter, sons of Zebedee, Zebedee, sons of Zebedee
If there’s a way, take from me
Take this cup, take this cup from me
I can almost here how the lyrics might fit in, but I guess I will never really know. 🙂
This is nice. I love all the appoggiaturas.
